COBBLESTONE PAVING PROJECT UNDERWAY IN SOUTH BRIGHTON

The project covers approximately 140 square metres across the driveway, garage entrances, pathways and surrounding access areas. Small-format natural stone cobbles are being individually laid to create a detailed, durable surface that complements the home’s curved architecture and natural stone façade.

PRECISION PAVING ACROSS A COMPLEX SITE

This is not a simple rectangular driveway. The paving layout includes curved borders, multiple garage entrances, drainage channels, narrow pathways and transitions between different concrete sections.

Each cobblestone must be positioned individually while maintaining consistent lines, suitable joint spacing and the correct finished levels. Extra care is also required around the curved garden edges, building columns and drainage infrastructure.

Straight border courses have been installed around the perimeter to frame the smaller cobblestones and give the completed paving a clean, structured finish.

BUILT FOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC

The driveway cobblestones are being bonded securely to the prepared concrete substrate using an exterior-grade flexible paving adhesive.

Correct substrate preparation and adhesive coverage are especially important on vehicle areas. A properly installed bonded system helps prevent individual stones from moving, rocking or becoming loose under repeated vehicle loads.

Drainage levels must also be carefully maintained so that surface water flows toward the installed channel drains rather than collecting near the garage or house.

CURVED COBBLESTONE BORDERS

One of the defining features of this project is the sweeping curved border surrounding the driveway and garden areas.

Creating a smooth curve with small rectangular stone requires careful setting out and numerous individual cuts. The border acts as both a visual frame and a strong edge restraint for the internal paving.

These details take considerably longer than laying a basic straight paving area, but they are what give the finished driveway its tailored appearance.

A TIMELESS FINISH FOR A MODERN HOME

The light-coloured cobblestone works well with the home’s rendered walls, vertical cladding and natural stone columns. It introduces texture without competing with the architecture.
