SAFE TREE REMOVAL OVER GLASS ROOF

When a tree grows over a home, every branch becomes a decision. That decision becomes even more critical when there is a fragile glass roof, skylight or conservatory directly beneath the canopy.
For this recent project, the homeowner had several mature trees leaning over a glass-roofed section of the house. Years of growth had left heavy limbs extending across the roof, while previous storm damage had weakened sections of the tree. A single uncontrolled branch could have caused thousands of dollars in damage.

Instead of simply cutting branches and hoping for the best, every cut was planned to protect the home first.
The Challenge
This project presented several risks:
Mature trees directly above fragile roof glass.
Limited access around the house.
Heavy limbs growing over the roofline.
Existing storm-damaged branches.
Nearby fences and landscaped gardens requiring protection.
Rather than removing large sections at once, the tree was dismantled carefully in small, controlled pieces.
Our Safe Removal Process
Safety always comes before speed.
For this project we:
Inspected the tree for damaged and weakened limbs.
Planned the order of removal from the outside of the canopy inward.
Reduced weight from each section before tackling larger limbs.
Lowered branches in controlled pieces where required.
Protected the glass roof and surrounding structures throughout the work.
Removed all green waste and left the site clean.
Working this way dramatically reduces the chance of impact damage to roofs, windows, decking and gardens.

Why Large Limbs Should Never Be Dropped Over Glass
Even relatively small branches can generate enormous impact force when falling from height.
Glass roofs, pergolas and skylights are particularly vulnerable because they are designed to allow light through, not absorb falling timber.
Attempting this type of work without the correct equipment, experience and planning can result in:
Broken glass
Roof damage
Water ingress
Structural repairs
Serious injury
Controlled dismantling is almost always the safest approach.
The Result
The hazardous limbs were safely removed without damage to the roof glass, surrounding structures or landscaped garden.
The homeowner now has:
Improved safety around the home.
Reduced storm risk.
Better clearance from the roof.
A healthier, more manageable tree canopy.
Peace of mind before the next severe weather event.
